"Money is good servant but a bad master" Bacon
In the Gospel of Matthew tells about a rich young man who once came to Jesus and said, "Good Master, what must I do to have eternal life?" Jesus answered him: "If you want eternal life, keep the commandments." (While he says nothing about the money). At that rich young man said to him: "All these have I kept from my youth. What lack I yet?". Since he was not satisfied and asked a second question, Jesus said to him: "If thou wilt be perfect, go, sell what you possess and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven." For boys this was unsustainable.
Remember that Jesus told his disciples? "Verily I say unto you, that it is difficult for a rich to enter the kingdom of heaven. And yet I say unto you: easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.
Many reading these lines, imagine a tiny hole in the needle's ear, and compare it with a huge camel. And the first thing that came to mind is the word "impossible". Mentally, they repeat the words: "A rich man can enter into the kingdom of God."
"Needle's eye" has no relation to the sewing needle. So called the narrow entrance to the city. Camel could pass through it entirely without luggage, almost on their knees and being very meek: willful animals strongly ranilis about chipped walls. This entry was intended only for small ruminants, it was used after sunset, when the city gates closed at night
In the Bible, only emphasized attitude to money. And not only in this case. Remember?
"The love of money - the evil"
"The root of all evil - greed for money"
"Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap, nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. You are not much better than them?"
But consider these words unblinkered view. What is it? The Attitude! Not bad money, and love them. In the Greek language has several words which are translated into our language one word: love. Here they are: epitumeo (epitumeo), mania (mania), eros (eros), storge (storge), fillet (phileo) and agape (agape). Different words and different meanings. Some of you all know, some may not all know each other. But, today we are interested in only one of them, translated into Russian, as love. You probably already guessed that we are talking about the word mania. Mania can hardly be called love in the fullest sense of the word. This maniacal desire for anyone or anything. From a biblical point of view, this love is idolatry, because deify man or thing, attachment to which a person experiences, obsessed love-manieyu. The Greeks regarded this kind of love, as the whimsical touch of Greek gods, because after that touch people began to behave irrationally. The modern word "maniac" is derived from the Greek word "mania" and could not be better described as a man obsessed by a mania. This word and is used in the above texts of the Bible.
